Patience

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22

“Patience can persuade a prince,
and soft speech can break bones.” Proverbs 25:15

“Finishing is better than starting.
Patience is better than pride.” Ecclesiastes 7:8

“Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” Colossians 3:12

Heaven Under Construction

What is happening in heaven right now? Assuming Jesus has been placed on the throne (only visible to the church), one of his first orders of business is raising the saints:

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16

Solomon took the first half of his reign building the Temple. “At the end of twenty years, during which Solomon built the temple of the Lord and his own palace,” 2 Chronicles 8:1

“Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”  The Jews then said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and yet You will raise it up in three days?”  But He was speaking about the temple of His body.” John 2:19-21

Three days is understood to mean 3,000 years according to Psalm 90.

“And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by people, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  For this is contained in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a choice stone, a precious cornerstone,
And the one who believes in Him will not be put to shame.” This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for unbelievers. “A stone which the builders rejected, This became the chief cornerstone,” 1 Peter 2:4-7

Jesus is currently building the Temple in heaven out of raised Christians. This will likely take several centuries.

Will Jesus Walk Again?

Will Jesus walk the earth again? “Yet as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,
And at the last, He will take His stand on the earth.
Even after my skin is destroyed,
Yet from my flesh I will see God,” Job 19:25-26

Will Jesus lead the troops that throw an human Satan into the lake of fire? Will David lead the troops?

“And My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd; and they will walk in My ordinances, and keep My statutes and follow them.” Ezekiel 37:24

“Nevertheless you will be brought down to Sheol,
To the recesses of the pit.
Those who see you will stare at you,
They will closely examine you, saying,
‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble,
Who shook kingdoms,
Who made the world like a wilderness
And overthrew its cities,
Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?’ Isaiah 14:15-17

Love and its opposite

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.  For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-13

The opposite of love is hate or narcissism. It is impatient, controlling, envious, boastful, proud, self-seeking, sarcastic, angry, and malicious. It keeps every record of wrong and plots revenge. Hate always fails.

Population Collapse?

Will the population in their first life shrink dramatically as the second born are increasing miraculously as happened in Egypt? Will the last of the first lifers die at Armageddon as Pharaoh’s entire army died in the Red Sea?

The Ultimate Baptism

“But Jesus answered, “You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to him, “We are able.” He said to them, “You will indeed drink my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give, but it is for whom it has been prepared by my Father.” Matthew 20:22-23

“In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.” Colossians 2:11-12

Many are familiar with water baptism, but the real baptism is death.

“We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4

The funny thing is we will all go through this baptism whether we like it or not, including non-believers!

Esther & Nehemiah

There are some very interesting probabilities about the rebuilding of the temple, Esther, Ezra, and Nehemiah. Cyrus the great ordered the rebuilding of the temple in 536 BC after he conquered the Babylonians in 539 BC. Cyrus ruled from 550 BC to 530 BC. Darius I ruled 522 BC to 486 BC. Work resumed on the temple 521 BC to 517 BC as noted in Ezra. Xerxes ruled 486 BC to 475 BC. He is the one that had the beauty pageant that Esther won (Book of Esther). Xerxes’ son Artaxerxes ruled 475 BC to 424 BC. Artaxerxes decreed that Nehemiah could resume the completion of the temple. He probably knew Esther as a wife of his father Xerxes. Two kinds of Jubilee

Since the Jubilee starts during the Sabbath year, part of it is in the 49th year and not the fiftieth.

“And you shall count seven weeks of years, seven times seven years, so that the time of the seven weeks of years shall be to you forty-nine years.  Then you shall send abroad the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the day of atonement you shall send abroad the trumpet throughout all your land.  And you shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants; it shall be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his family.  A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be to you; in it you shall neither sow, nor reap what grows of itself, nor gather the grapes from the undressed vines.  For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat what it yields out of the field.” Leviticus 25:8-12

The Jubilee is the fiftieth year, yet it starts about half way through the forty-nineth year. This will have implications during the reign of Christ. Christ will reign a thousand years – a Sabbath millennium. Yet the Jubilee millennium will start about half way through this thousand years. The part of the Jubilee that is still in the seventh (49th) millennium will be different for the Jubilee of the 8th (50th) millennium. God is resting all during the 7,000 years since Adam’s fall. This includes Christ’s 1,000 year reign at the end of the 7,000. God cannot start the new creation until the 8,000 years commence. Thus the 470ish years of Jubilee at the back half of Christ’s 1,000 year Sabbath reign will be without new creation. It will be a joyous time of family reunion but without the magic of the new creation elements.

The Time of Jesus’ Birth

Here is a very good book discussing the particulars of the time of Jesus’ birth:

Communion in the Kingdom

Communion is a staple in Christian services. It’s really just a repackaged Seder dinner of the Passover. And a very reduced dinner at that – only wine and unleavened (sometimes!) bread. What about communion during Christ’s 1,000 year reign?

“They went, found things as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.  When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.  He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in God’s Kingdom.”  He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this, and share it among yourselves, for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until God’s Kingdom comes.”

He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”  Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.” Luke 22:13-20

In a sense, Jesus drank again after he rose from the dead:

“As they said these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be to you.” But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. He said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts?  See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.”  When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.  While they still didn’t believe for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.  He took them, and ate in front of them.” Luke 24:36-42

“That night, they caught nothing.  But when day had already come, Jesus stood on the beach, yet the disciples didn’t know that it was Jesus.  Jesus therefore said to them, “Children, have you anything to eat?” They answered him, “No.” He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” They cast it therefore, and now they weren’t able to draw it in for the multitude of fish.  That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Lord!”

So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat around himself (for he was naked), and threw himself into the sea.  But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits away), dragging the net full of fish.  So when they got out on the land, they saw a fire of coals there, with fish and bread laid on it.  Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”

Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land, full of one hundred fifty-three great fish. Even though there were so many, the net wasn’t torn. Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast!” None of the disciples dared inquire of him, “Who are you?” knowing that it was the Lord. Then Jesus came and took the bread, gave it to them, and the fish likewise.  This is now the third time that Jesus was revealed to his disciples after he had risen from the dead.  So when they had eaten their breakfast…” John 21:3-13

What’s the meaning of this:

“For first of all, when you come together in the assembly, I hear that divisions exist among you, and I partly believe it.  For there also must be factions among you, that those who are approved may be revealed among you.  When therefore you assemble yourselves together, it is not the Lord’s supper that you eat.  For in your eating each one takes his own supper first. One is hungry, and another is drunken.  What, don’t you have houses to eat and to drink in? Or do you despise God’s assembly and put them to shame who don’t have enough? What shall I tell you? Shall I praise you? In this I don’t praise you.

For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread.  When he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “Take, eat. This is my body, which is broken for you. Do this in memory of me.”  In the same way he also took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink, in memory of me.”  For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.  Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks the Lord’s cup in a way unworthy of the Lord will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.  But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.  For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy way eats and drinks judgment to himself if he doesn’t discern the Lord’s body.  For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.  For if we discerned ourselves, we wouldn’t be judged.  But when we are judged, we are punished by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.  Therefore, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.  But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest your coming together be for judgment. The rest I will set in order whenever I come.” 1 Corinthians 11:18-33

Is this foreshadowing Passover in the Kingdom? Will those unworthy be refused to eat of the trees of life?

“But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgment. Whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.” Matthew 5:22

“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,  leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.  Agree with your adversary quickly while you are with him on the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.  Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there until you have paid the last penny.” Matthew 5:23-26

Notice how the unrepentant are refused entry into Jerusalem in the Kingdom:

“Blessed are those who do his commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.  Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.” Revelation 22:14-15
