One of the greatest joys in life are friends. They listen, encourage, and empathise. They even sacrifice their own interests for yours. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
Jesus is our greatest friend. He laid down his life for the whole world, but especially for believers. “His mouth is sweetness itself; he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, this is my friend, daughters of Jerusalem.” Song of songs 5:16
The believers rejoiced while Jesus was with them. “Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while he is with them?” Luke 5:34
Friendship is more valuable than possessions. “I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.” Luke 16:9
Friendship with Jesus is defined. “You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:14,15
Many people are enemies because of slander, malice, gossip, etc. Imagine when there is no more lying and malice. Friendship will be possible with everyone!
