Pastor Mark Biltz has an interesting take on the third temple. It will be built during the Feast of Tabernacles in the millennial reign. Jesus will come down on Yom Kippur and stand on the Mount of Olives, which will split in two. We believe Yom Kippur will be on the 190th day out of 360, or about the 527th year of the Millennium. Tabernacles would start on the 195th out of 360, or about the 541st year.
“In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him!” Zechariah 14:4-5
The timing of all this is the question. The earthquake of Uzziah is very instructive. It was based on that massive earthquake that all the surrounding nations developed a very large and healthy fear of The Lord. It is for this reason that the Ninevites repented at the preaching of Jonah – they feared another such earthquake from his God would wipe them out! In the same way this earthquake which splits the Mount of olives in two will cause massive fear in all the surrounding lands which many of the earth’s inhabitants will have gathered for Yom Kippur. Is this the immediate cause for:
“Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth;
For I am God, and there is no other.
“I have sworn by Myself,
The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness
And will not turn back,
That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.
“They will say of Me, ‘Only in the Lord are righteousness and strength.’
Men will come to Him,
And all who were angry at Him will be put to shame.” Isaiah 45:22-24
