Bible Chronology

While perusing websites having to do with prophecy and end times matters, it is striking how most have the wrong chronology. Bishop Usher’s famous dating of Adam to 4004BC is perhaps the most famous. Many websites don’t even bother with chronology and instead use astronomical signs or guesses about where Daniel’s seventieth week falls. They almost uniformly assume a human antichrist reigning for seven years, followed by an apocalyptic sudden return of Jesus. Even though parts of this interpretation may be correct, it ignores many other features of the second coming, not to mention timing. Many guess that Jesus will return in 2017 or 2024 or 2028. I’d be willing to bet they’re all wrong. It is for this reason the ungodly: “They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 2 Peter 3:4

Wasn’t what their forefathers said at the first coming? They were convinced he was not the Messiah. It will be the same the second time around. Jesus first advent ended dramatically. But it started virtually unnoticed. It will be the same the second time around.
