Christmas & New Year

At the stroke of midnight, December 25th, the pastor said, “Merry Christmas!”  It occured to me that by YHWH’s reckoning the day starts at sundown.  It does seem that Yahshua was born at night.  “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.   But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”  Luke 2:8-12

And the new year was either reckoned from fall or spring.  “The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.”  Exodus 12:1-2 (Springtime).  “The Lord said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites: ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of sabbath rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts.  Do no regular work, but present a food offering to the Lord.”  Leviticus 23:23-25 (Autumn)
