Looking Back

What will it be like when we look back over thousands of years of human history in the Kingdom of God? Will Job be mad?

Then Job replied to the Lord:

“I know that you can do all things;
    no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’
    Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
    things too wonderful for me to know.

“You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;
    I will question you,
    and you shall answer me.’
My ears had heard of you
    but now my eyes have seen you.
Therefore I despise myself
    and repent in dust and ashes.” Job 42:1-6

Job lost everything except his life and wife. By the end of his life he regained double everything he started with. But wait until he learns how many million people his story has encouraged! Jesus describes it thus:

“Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.  A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.  So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” John 16:20-22

The future is bright! But first we must endure many trials. We will all have had a taste of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and we will avoid evil like the plague!
