Death of the Innocents

There are two prominent stories of killing innocent infants in the bible.

“Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, “Every son that is born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the Nile, but you shall let every daughter live.”  Exodus 1:22

This happened just a few years before the Exodus out of Egypt.  Sometime around 1620 BC give or take.

“When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.”  Matthew 2:16

This happened around 1 or 2 BC.  Both incidents are significant in that they happened just prior to the founding of the Israelite nation and the founding of the church.  At some point future, Israelites and Gentile believers will be united to one faithful house of God.
