“Now Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of water came upon the earth. Then Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him entered the ark because of the water of the flood. Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that creeps on the ground, there went into the ark to Noah by twos, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. It came about after the seven days, that the water of the flood came upon the earth. In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened. The rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.” Genesis 7:6-12
Noah’s family went into the ark on the 10th day of the second month. That’s the 40th day of the year. The flood lasted 370 days from the 17th of the second month to the 27th of the second month of the following year. If this story is a prophecy, when does the prophecy start? This author has assumed the flood started in 1874 or 1878. What if we have to count 40 or 47 days(years) later? There’s really no way of knowing. Prophecy fulfillment can only be seen in hindsight. It’s fun to think and rethink assumptions.
