“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
Jesus conquered death at the cross. Can we prove this?
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.” 1 Peter 3:18
A common thought in church is that Jesus died for my sins, therefore I’m good as soon as I die. Is that true? What did Jesus’ death secure? The common thought is that believers die and go straight a perfect heaven with no more physical ailments, etc. Is this true? What are the scriptures that support this?
“The last enemy to be destroyed is death.” 1 Corinthians 15:26
If Jesus destroyed death at the cross, why do we still see death? If death is to be destroyed future to us, does that imply some further work in addition to the cross? Are there other sacrifices that need to happen beyond Jesus at the cross?
